Helic’s VeloceRF in Nanoradio’s arsenal

May 08, 2012 -- SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Helic, Inc., the technology leader in EDA solutions for RF and high-speed IC design announced today that Nanoradio, Inc., one of the fastest growing semiconductor companies in Sweden,  selected Helic’s VeloceRF™ to be part of their RFIC design flow.

Nanoradio develops integrated circuits which bring outstanding WLAN capabilities into mobile phones, and consumer multimedia electronics. Opting for Helic tools enables Nanoradio to deal successfully and confidently with key challenges of performance, size, speed and cost.

Helic’s unique component-synthesis engine, VeloceRF™, generates DRC and DFM-correct inductive devices according to the designer specifications and manages to meet successfully the demands of RF and high-speed design in advanced silicon processes. VeloceRF™ brings a complete solution for achieving an optimal floorplan, enabling silicon area reduction by optimizing inductor sizes. The tool de-risks the design from electromagnetic effects, incorporating EM coupling parasitics in post-layout simulation.

Helic’s VeloceRF has been a key contributor in the development of the smallest and most power efficient Wi-Fi solutions in the world, said Christian Nyström, Vice President and RFIC Expert at Nanoradio AB.

“We are delighted that VeloceRF assisted the Nanoradio team to design state-of-the-art wireless chipsets that have already become a huge market success”, commented Nikolas Provatas, Vice President of Sales and Business Development at Helic, Inc.
