ProTek Devices' New Steering Diode / TVS Array Covers Circuit Protection in Gigabit Ethernet, Smartphones, Video Card Interfaces and More

TEMPE, Ariz., May 11, 2015 — (PRNewswire) —  ProTek Devices™ today introduced a new ultra-low capacitance steering diode / transient voltage suppressor array (TVS array) designed to deliver circuit protection in Gigabit Ethernet applications, smartphones, video card interfaces and more. The ultra-low capacitance for this new component, the PAZC099, is 0.9pF. The PAZC099 is rated for 5.0V applications with 100 watts peak pulse power per line (8/20 micro seconds). It's also ideal for circuit protection in USB 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 applications, DVI interfaces and other portable electronics.

The PAZC099 provides surge suppression and electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection in these high-speed data line applications. ESD protection is > 25 kilovolts. It combines eight ultra-low capacitance steering diodes for up to four individual data or transmission lines. It has one TVS diode for the power bus. This device meets or exceeds various IEC standards: 61000-4-2 (ESD): air 15kV, contact 8kV; 61000-4-4 for electrical fast transients (EFT): 40A, 5/50ns; and 61000-4-5 (surge). In addition, the PAZC099 provides a low clamping voltage and is RoHS and REACH compliant.

The part is offered in a space-saving SOT-23-6 package configuration. The small package size minimizes lead inductance, preventing overshoot voltages during high ESD current events. ProTek Devices recommends the PAZC099 be mounted near the connector on the PCB. The approximate weight of the component is just 16 milligrams. Other key mechanical characteristics include lead-free nickel palladium gold plating and a UL 94V-0 flammability rating. The solder reflow temperature (nickel-palladium-gold: Ni/Pd/Au, 96/3.5/0.5) is 260 to 270 degrees Celsius. Operating and storage temperature is -55 to 150 degrees Celsius.

Pricing and Availability
ProTek Devices' PAZC099 is now available in mass quantities. Pricing varies by amounts starting at a minimum 3,000 components provided in 8mm tape and reel, per EIA standard 481. Interested parties should inquire with a local authorized distributor/representative or directly with ProTek Devices. These full contact details and a data sheet for the PAZC099 series can be found on the ProTek Devices website.
