Avatar Integrated Systems Expands Executive Sales Team Worldwide

Rapid customer adoption of the company’s breakthrough place & route architecture drives the need for organization expansion

SAN JOSE, Calif., March 25, 2019 – Avatar Integrated Systems, the leading provider of physical design implementation solutions, has appointed Dr. Edward Tsuei and Dr. Willis Chang to the executive management team.  Edward will serve as the Vice President of Sales, U.S. and Willis will serve as Vice President of Sales, Asia-Pacific.  The expansion was sparked by robust customer demand in North America and Asia-Pacific for its new place-and-route architecture in the company’s flagship product Aprisa.

“We are very fortunate to have these two highly experienced members of the electronic design industry join our executive team” said Dennis Gao, President and CFO, Avatar Integrated Systems. “The expansion of our team reflects Avatar’s commitment to our customers and our drive to address the continuing challenges of SoC development.  Edward and Willis know what’s important to customers in their respective markets, and that’s the key to building lasting relationships.”

Dr. Edward Tsuei brings more than 20 years of global sales leadership in the electronics industry to Avatar.  For over two decades, he has held various sales and engineering positions at ANSYS, Cadence, Broadcom, Sun Microsystems and Intel.  Throughout his career, Tsuei led the adoption of novel, high-value tools and solutions in electronic design automation (EDA), IC design, packaging and PCB system design.  Tsuei holds a Master of Science in mechanical engineering and Ph.D. in electrical engineering, both from the University of Arizona.

Dr. Willis Chang has spent much of his 20-year career in the EDA and IC design industry. Chang has been instrumental in accelerating sales growth in Asia for several leading EDA companies where he held positions as General Manager of Cadence Taiwan office and, prior to Cadence, General Manager of the Avant! Taiwan office.  Prior to joining Avatar, he led global sales for ALi Corporation.   Besides his extensive industry knowledge, Chang has an entrepreneurial spirit, establishing two companies on LCD TV system and SoC.   Chang holds a Ph.D. in physics from Clemson University, South Carolina, and a B.S. in physics from National Cheng-Kung University, Taiwan.

In September 2018, Avatar introduced a new architecture to its Aprisa and Apogee solutions.   The new release provides a breakthrough detailed-route-centric place-and-route architecture addressing the continuing design convergence problems and low power challenges facing today’s designs.  The Detailed-Route-Centric Architecture enables efficient and frequent detailed route layers, patterns, congestions, pin-access, etc. to be available throughout the place-and-route flow. This significantly reduces the number of place-and-route iterations with fast design closure while achieving better design quality with higher performance, lower power, and smaller die size.  These types of fundamental EDA innovations are crucial to achieve best results while meeting project schedule for today’s SoC designs.
