Phased-Array Antenna Simulation for 5G Webinar Showcasing NI AWR Software

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. – May 29, 2018  AWR/NI announcement:

Phased-array antennas, well known in radar and aerospace systems, are now seeing greater use in commercial applications. In particular, multiple-in-multiple-out (MIMO) and beam-steering phased-array antennas are enabling technologies for achieving over-the-air spatial efficiency called for by 5G and emerging radar applications. The commercialization of this antenna technology will require novel antenna designs/array configurations to tackle stringent electrical requirements (beam-steering angle, effective radiated power, side-lobes) and size constraints.

The “Phased-Array Antenna Simulation for 5G” webinar, scheduled for June 5 and hosted by Steve Tucker of AWR Group, NI, will showcase new capabilities and a phased-array wizard within the NI AWR Design Environment platform, specifically Visual System Simulator™ (VSS) software. The capabilities guide engineers through the design, analysis and physical realization of these new arrays, incorporating real-world radiation patterns, RF links and effects of mutual coupling and other hardware impairments, all within a user-friendly interface that defines the array configuration and performs the initial phased-array simulation.

When: June 5, 2018, 8 a.m. PT/11 a.m. ET/ 3 p.m. UTC.
