CSX Corporation Selects GeoCue For Railway Feature Management System

August 06, 2010 -- Huntsville, AL - CSX Corporation, headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, has entered into a master services agreement with GeoCue Corporation to provide software and consulting services for a railway feature inventory and change management system. The initial task under the agreement includes the deployment of a GeoCue® enterprise workflow management system along with the Railway Feature Extraction (RFX) extensions. GeoCue’s RFX system is a multiuser client-server system for extracting track alignment, track features and wayside features from airborne and/or mobile LIDAR data. The system provides automated extraction of track alignment and queued, interactive extraction of features. It integrates with upstream pre-processing solutions such as Terrasolid, FLIP7® and ArcGIS® data repositories.

In additions to the RFX extraction system, CSX will be customizing GeoCue via the GeoCue Software Development Kit to manage ongoing changes in the track and wayside feature database.

GeoCue is extremely pleased to be selected by CSX for this critical project.  This partnership further validates GeoCue’s position as the leading North American provider of integrated technology for LIDAR-based feature collection tools in support of the Positive Train Control initiative.

GeoCue’s Railway Feature Extraction system is designed to allow rapid collection of track centerline, on-track features and wayside features from LIDAR data in support of initially populating and subsequently maintaining railway feature databases. The system’s immediate use is in populating and maintaining Positive Train Control databases. RFX uses GeoCue’s enterprise geospatial process management system for managing multiuser access to a variety of processing tools in an organized and audited environment. RFX includes a customized version of LP360, a QCoherent product, for 3D extraction of features in a rapid collection environment. RFX was developed in a technology partnership with a major Class 1 railroad.
