Cypress Announces ARM® Cortex™-M3/PSoC® 5 Design Challenge

Over $10,000 in Prizes Offered for Contest Presented in Conjunction with EE Times and ARM; Contest Entry and Judging at www.cypress.com/go/challenge

SAN JOSE, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — November 10, 2010 — Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (Nasdaq: CY) today announced the ARM® Cortex™M3/ PSoC® 5 Design Challenge, a contest to find the most innovative and useful designs from the millions of possibilities available to designers using the Cypress PSoC 5 architecture powered by the ARM Cortex-M3 processor. The contest, presented in conjunction with EE Times and ARM, kicks off this week at the ARM TechCon, with the Grand Prize to be awarded in May, 2011. A total of over $10,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded throughout the contest, including the $2,500 Grand Prize. More information, including how to enter the contest and how to become a judge, as well as lively interaction from participants and the engineering community is available at www.cypress.com/go/challenge.

Judging of the contest entries will be done in three stages:

“The beauty of PSoC is that its flexibility offers literally millions of possibilities, and we know that we can’t possibly uncover all of them, even with some of the most talented engineers in the business,” said Norm Taffe, executive vice president of Cypress’s Consumer and Computation Division. “We look forward to enabling our customers to leverage their creativity and explore what PSoC has to offer.”

“PSoC’s uniquely flexible architecture is an outstanding complement to the performance and low power of our Cortex-M3 processor core,” said Ferguson. “We look forward to a very compelling set of design entries that showcase the strength of this dynamic combination.”

“This will be a fantastic design contest, particularly because the user community will have a strong voice in the outcome,” said Fuller. “The landscape of design is changing rapidly with collaboration across time zones and disciplines leading to very rapid development cycles and incredible innovations. We’re looking forward to being a part of this tremendous collaboration amongst thousands of engineers.”
