VaST Develops High Performance Virtual Processor Model for Freescale's e200z6 'Power Architecture(TM)' Core

SUNNYVALE, Calif.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—June 20, 2007— VaST Systems -- the leader in electronics virtualization -- today announced the development of a virtual processor model of Freescale's e200z6 core built on Power Architecture(TM) technology. This development is part of VaST's Universe Initiative structuring collaborative development of high-performance and accurate models of semiconductor IP for pre-silicon software development.

The VaST solution, requested by a leading Tier 1 automotive supplier, exemplifies the industry focus on providing leading microcontroller (MCU) products with accompanying design and software development solutions for the automotive industry.

"Increasing system and software complexity in automotive engine control is driving the need for high-performance integrated development platforms to be available ahead of silicon availability," said Ray Cornyn, Freescale's director for automotive microcontrollers. "VaST's modeling capabilities, coupled with our e200 automotive microcontroller platforms, help our mutual customers manage this complexity and deliver higher quality products faster."

The VaST e200z6 virtual processor model (Ve200z6VPM) delivers both high performance and timing accuracy. The model was verified using tests from the EDN Embedded Microprocessor Benchmarking Consortium (EEMBC.) Average accuracy vs. a Freescale reference simulator was found to be better than 99% for selected applications.

"Increasingly automotive customers require solutions that allow them to develop higher quality and defect free software. The availability of high performance virtual prototyping tools help our customers manage this escalating complexity," said Jeff Roane vice president of marketing at VaST Systems. VaST Systems, like Freescale Semiconductor, is a member of Power.org, the open collaborative organization that enables, develops and promotes Power Architecture technology.

About VaST

VaST Systems Technology Corporation solutions enable the creation of a virtual system prototype -- a highly accurate software model of a system that operates at near real-time speeds under actual software loads. VaST's solutions are OSCI SystemC-compliant and are used for architecture, hardware, and software design. VaST solutions dramatically improve time to market and quality while reducing development costs and risk.

Current customers include worldwide leaders in semiconductors, automotive electronics, wireless devices, and consumer electronics. VaST is headquartered in Sunnyvale, California with sales and support offices worldwide. For more information, visit www.vastsystems.com.
