Mentor Graphics Catapult C Synthesis Selected by Fujitsu Microelectronics Solutions Limited for Design and Consulting Services

WILSONVILLE, Ore. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — September 2, 2009 — Mentor Graphics Corp. (NASDAQ: MENT) today announced that Fujitsu Microelectronics Solutions Limited has chosen the Catapult® C Synthesis tool for use in its design and prototyping services organization.

To tackle the challenges of increasing size and complexity of advanced IC designs, it is becoming ever more important to improve design efficiency with high-level synthesis. At the same time, there is a learning curve associated with deploying a new methodology such as high-level synthesis. Based on a depth of knowledge and experience in the high-level synthesis field, Fujitsu Microelectronics Solutions Limited will provide a range of consulting services to address customers’ unique needs and facilitate the process of introducing high-level synthesis to improve design efficiency. Fujitsu Microelectronics Solutions Limited's consulting services include high-level synthesis methodology, implementation, prototyping and hands-on training.

“By providing highly-flexible services to match each customer's requirement, we can help them apply high-level synthesis tools and achieve a dramatic reduction in design cycle time,” said Mr. Takao Sukemura, General Manager, Development DIV. I of Fujitsu Microelectronics Solutions Limited. “In addition to the front-end design that starts with high-level synthesis, we also have a rich experience in back-end processes, so we can cover the entire workflow of ASIC/SoC development.”

“We are impressed with Fujitsu Microelectronics Solutions Limited’s deep knowledge and experience in IC design and ESL methodologies, especially in regard to C Synthesis, and we believe their services will be beneficial for a wide range of mutual customers,” said Simon Bloch, Vice President and General Manager of Mentor Graphics Design and Synthesis Division. “As companies deploy high-level synthesis, we are seeing a significant amount of Catapult C adoption given its ability to synthesize both algorithmic and control blocks, balance excellent results across power/area/performance and provide clear benefits around an integrated verification methodology. Fujitsu Microelectronics Solutions Limited's decision to use Catapult C Synthesis as their high-level synthesis tool of choice further reinforces our technical leadership.”

About Catapult

The Catapult C Synthesis tool is the first product to automatically generate control and algorithmic RTL multi-block designs from a pure ANSI C++ source where both the core algorithm and interface are untimed. This productivity improvement gives designers time and freedom to automatically perform detailed design exploration of different micro-architectural options and interface scenarios to quickly achieve fully optimized hardware designs.
