Maponics ZIP Code Boundaries Captures Record Number of U.S. Postal Service Branch Closings

Maponics - the Only Place USPS.com Refers for ZIP Code Maps, Data and Information - has verified that a Significant Postal Reorganization is in fact Underway

NORWICH, Vt. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — November 16, 2009 — Maponics announced today that the latest release of its suite of ZIP Code map data shows evidence of a record number of ZIP Code changes over the 3 months since the previous data release. This news validates that the U.S. Postal Service has already implemented significant on-the-ground changes related to the massive work force and mail delivery infrastructure re-evaluation it announced earlier this year, a reorganization initiated to address a projected 20 billion drop in mail pieces from fiscal year 2008 to 2009.

“We are monitoring daily change alerts from the U.S. Postal Service, and we’ve seen a significant uptick in branch closings and consolidations over the past few months,” said Steve Zuckerman, VP of technical operations at Maponics. “Of course there is no doubt that the U.S. Postal Service will survive and thrive after this period. But through the turmoil, Maponics is making constant data adjustments to be sure that the local reality is always captured accurately in our ZIP Code boundaries, ZIP+4 data and other ZIP Code map data products.”

Since 2003, Maponics has been the only place USPS.com refers businesses for postal maps, data and information. The U.S. Postal Service ® is also a Maponics client, as are mailing industry giants DHL ®, UPS ®, and FedEX ®.

“We count many of the biggest mailing organizations, direct marketing companies and search engines as customers because of our rigorous ZIP Code map data creation methodology,” explains Darrin Clement, CEO of Maponics. “We use the same deliverable address definitions to create our postal boundaries that the U.S. Postal Service uses in its CASS Certification process, making our data completely CASS-certification compatible.”

Many companies looking to replace their existing Tele Atlas ® or MarketMAPS ® ZIP Code boundaries find Maponics a compelling alternative, especially those concerned with accuracy, price, support and licensing flexibility. All Maponics postal data is available for file delivery in a wide range of formats so that it integrates easily with ESRI ®, Pitney Bowes MapInfo, Oracle ™, SAP ™ and many other GIS, database and web applications. It is also available via the Maponics Spatial API on a transactional basis.

The latest version of the Maponics ZIP Code map data suite, version 1.9.4, features an a la cart selection of datasets, including: 5-digit ZIP Code boundaries, ZIP+4 data (9-digit ZIP Code data), postal carrier route boundaries, neighborhood-to-ZIP Code correspondence data and custom postal datasets.

Companies believing they would benefit from access to Maponics ZIP Code map data should contact Mark Friend, VP of sales and marketing at 800.762.5158 or Email Contact.
