CodeSourcery to Port GCC to Texas Instruments’ C6000™ Processors

GRANITE BAY, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — April 27, 2010 — CodeSourcery, a leading provider of tools for professional embedded C and C++ developers, is working with Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) to port the GNU Toolchain to TI’s C6000 family of digital signal processors (DSPs) and multicore system-on-chips (SoCs).

The complete C6000 toolchain will include the GNU Compiler Collection (GCC), the GNU Binary Utilities (Binutils), the GNU Debugger (GDB), and the GNU C and C++ runtime libraries. CodeSourcery will optimize the compiler and other tools to take advantage of the performance capabilities of TI’s C6000 DSPs and SoCs. In addition, CodeSourcery will ensure that the compiler conforms to TI’s C6000 ELF ABI so that code generated with GCC can interoperate with code generated with TI’s tools.

The GNU Toolchain for C6000 processors will target both bare metal and uClinux systems and will be available for Microsoft Windows and GNU/Linux host systems. An initial public release is planned for Q4 2010. In addition, CodeSourcery will contribute the port to the Free Software Foundation (FSF) for inclusion in future releases of the GNU Toolchain.

CodeSourcery will exhibit Sourcery G++ today at the TI Technology Day in San Jose.
