TerraGo® Previews Version 6 Next Generation Geospatial Collaboration Software

Upcoming software release will further extend TerraGo Toolbar™ and Adobe® Reader® collaboration capabilities within enterprises, between organizations and disparate systems, and peer-to-peer in the field

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) June 30, 2011 - TerraGo® Technologies, an innovative provider of widely adopted geospatial collaboration software, will introduce new capabilities in the upcoming version 6 (V6) software releases of its popular TerraGo Toolbar™, Publisher™ and Composer™ solutions to fully enable GeoPDF® maps and imagery to be updated and shared by any Adobe® Reader® and TerraGo Toolbar user anywhere.

Through an agreement between TerraGo and Adobe, TerraGo V6 Publisher and Composer software will empower every producer of TerraGo GeoPDF maps and imagery to automatically enable the extensive markup and collaboration capabilities of Adobe Reader and TerraGo Toolbar. Anyone interacting with V6 GeoPDF maps and imagery using Adobe Reader and TerraGo Toolbar will then be able to access and georeference mark-ups, audio, video and other content from local or remote sources in GeoPDF maps. The resulting current information can be distributed to the field, back to the enterprise or shared peer-to-peer with TerraGo Toolbar and TerraGo Mobile™ for Windows, and soon, Google Android and iOS-based devices.

TerraGo Toolbar is used by more than 10,000 organizations worldwide to interact with GeoPDF maps, imagery and digital atlases, which have become a de facto standard to disseminate and interact with geospatial information for customers such as the U.S. Army, Marines, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency and U.S. Geological Survey. Increasingly, the proven and easy-to-use Toolbar is being used in mission-critical environments such as defense and intelligence, crisis response and critical infrastructure management.

In addition, the new TerraGo V6 software capabilities will offer expanded levels of synchronous collaboration and portability to users, who will be able to extend and exchange geospatial assets more easily than ever from enterprise servers and Web-based services. V6 also will enable enterprises to more efficiently incorporate geospatial data from different sources and then exchange geospatial information with other organizations’ disparate GIS platforms.

“Making enterprise geospatial assets more available and actionable for field and mobile workers who are not GIS experts is a major challenge for any enterprise,” said Jeff Vining, Gartner vice president and research analyst for government, homeland security and law enforcement. “Enhanced interaction with geospatial information can improve collaboration and help organizations make better informed and timelier decisions.”

“We are pleased to partner with TerraGo Technologies to enable millions of Adobe Reader users to leverage the full potential of geospatial intelligence by making typically large and complex assets highly portable, interactive and shareable,” said Matt Thompson, Adobe senior vice president of worldwide field operations.

“The upcoming TerraGo V6 product releases will provide all GeoPDF users – from warfighters and emergency managers to energy operators, insurance adjusters and countless others – with new ways to leverage geospatial data in their missions and share critical intelligence with their teams,” said Rick Cobb, TerraGo CEO. “V6 will further help enterprises improve workforce productivity and achieve a higher return on their geospatial investments.”

The expanded functionality is scheduled to be available in the upcoming Publisher, Composer and Toolbar V6 software releases in the second half of 2011. Current Publisher and Composer customers on maintenance will be automatically upgraded to the new version. V6 features also will be incorporated in future releases of the recently announced TerraGo SDK (software development kit), a set of software development modules for partners and enterprises to easily and quickly integrate custom TerraGo GeoPDF and geospatial collaboration applications.
