"The close collaboration between The MathWorks and Altera allows us to deliver a workflow that supports the demanding DSP hardware requirements of military and aerospace designers," said Ken Karnofsky, signal processing and communications marketing director, The MathWorks. "The joint productivity seminars demonstrate firsthand how customers are using Model-Based Design for Altera FPGAs to reduce errors and streamline the overall development lifecycle."
During the seminar, the two companies will present their end-to-end tool flow for algorithm modeling, simulation and implementation of sophisticated military and aerospace applications in Altera FPGAs. Altera will also present its long-range DSP technical roadmap and support plan.
As part of the seminar, Altera and The MathWorks highlight their DSP development flow by demonstrating an advanced-sensor front-end design example that delivers sustained 175-GMACS performance and a system clock rate of 350 MHz in a Stratix® IV GX FPGA. This highly optimized, high-performance system was developed using The MathWorks Simulink design tool and Altera's DSP Builder Advanced Blockset.
"Altera continues to make the necessary investments in our products and technologies to meet the requirements of 21st-century military DSP designs," said Amr El-Ashmawi, senior business unit manager of Altera's military/aerospace market. "Our relationship with The MathWorks allows us to offer military and aerospace engineers the DSP development resources needed to be as productive as possible when designing advanced military systems."
