"... while facing all the allure of the really COOL alternatives out there." Because of the Great Recession and the EDA sector basically being in a stall, we have lost a lot of people to areas like Web 2.0 and management consulting. EDA needs to rediscover its startup roots and reinvigorate. I can't think of a single EDA-related conference with the excitement of the just-completed International Startup Festival in Montreal, or what is building up for TechWeek Chicago starting on 7/22.

The Cadence Denali party may have brought some relief, but imagine how much better that event would be with a better build-up in the preceding 364 days ...
