Probably the best book I've read this year. It is hard to imagine the hardship the Soviet people had to suffer under Stalin's rule. Set in 1953 it tells the story of a MGB agent who secretly has to investigate a case of mass child murder, as in the Soviet Union crime does not exist. Do suggest otherwise is enough to get you sent to a Gulag or shot.
